The edited volume Women and the Body will appear as part of the peer-reviewed book series Interdisciplinary Studies on Philology, published by Maurer Press (Germany). The series explores cutting-edge research across literary studies, cultural studies, linguistics, philosophy, and related fields, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and theoretically innovative approaches.
This volume invites scholars from the humanities and social sciences to contribute original research addressing the intersections between women and embodiment. We seek interdisciplinary perspectives that analyze how female bodies are represented, constructed, negotiated, politicized, or transformed across literary, cultural, artistic, philosophical, historical, and media contexts.
Possible Topics Include (but are not limited to):
- Embodiment, identity, and subjectivity
- The female body in literature, art, film, and digital media
- Biopolitics, medical discourses, and the regulation of women’s bodies
- Sexuality, reproductive narratives, motherhood, and care work
- Normativity, beauty practices, and cultural expectations
- Gendered violence, trauma, and vulnerability
- Bodies, agency, resistance, and feminist activism
- Intersectional approaches (race, class, disability, sexuality)
- Posthumanist, cyborg, and technologically mediated bodies
Submission Guidelines:
- Abstract length: 300–500 words
