2026 Award for Best Scholarly Monograph on the American Gothic
The Society for the Study of the American Gothic (SSAG) invites nominations for its biennial Award for Best Scholarly Monograph. This award is open to all scholarly monographs published in the past two years that focus on some aspect of the American Gothic. The winner of the award will be announced at the Society for the Study of the American Gothic business meeting, at the American Literature Association conference in May 2026 (exact date TBA).
Eligibility
This award is open to all scholarly monographs that focus on some aspect of the American Gothic in its many forms. To be considered, nominations must be book-length monographs (no edited volumes), and have a 2024 or 2025 first edition publication date.
Nominations
Nominations should be submitted using the online nominations form. Anyone is welcome to nominate a book (authors, publishers, others), though nominators are advised to coordinate with publishers/authors to supply copies of books to the awards committee. Electronic copies of books are strongly encouraged.
Deadline
All nominations must be submitted by Monday, January 12, 2026. No nominations will be accepted after this date.
