June 2026 Graduate Symposium on the Work of D.H. Lawrence

The DHLSNA plans to host a day-long symposium for graduate students on 12 June 2026. The symposium will consist of panels of micro-papers (5-7 minutes), a plenary dialogue between a senior Lawrence scholar and graduate student respondents, and an ac/alt-ac professional workshop.

We welcome statements of interest from graduate students working on any aspect of Lawrence’s work. Our aim is to make this symposium as useful as possible to graduate students interested in D. H. Lawrence, his relationship to modernism, and his contemporaries. In your statement of interest, please provide an abstract of your current project related to Lawrence as well as professionalization areas you would find interesting and useful. These could range from publishing strategies and teaching close reading to emerging edtech and AI integrations in literary studies and departments.

Please email abstracts of 200–300 words (plus bio of 100 words) by 30 March 2026 to Bridget Chalk, Interim Provost and Professor of English at Manhattan University and Vice President of the DHLSNA (bridget.chalk@manhattan.edu). Notices of acceptance will be sent by 6 April 2026.
