The upcoming 34th Conference of the Association for Gender and Sexuality Studies (AEGS) will take place at the University of Oviedofrom May 20th and 22nd, 2026. It will be hosted by the Institute of Gender and Diversity (IUGEN-DIV), the INTERSECTIONS research group (Contemporary Literatures, Cultures, and Theories), and the Department of English, French, and German.

The mission of AEGS is to foster shared interest, research, and critical reflection on cultural products from the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula through the lenses of feminist, gender, and sexuality studies, while also engaging with other categories of analysis relevant to these fields.

This edition focuses on care as its main theme, under the title “Caring for the World: New Narratives of Justice, Gender, and Affect.” The aim is to encourage critical reevaluations of the role of care in interpersonal relationships as well as in relationships that go beyond the human.

Contributions are invited on the following thematic lines, which are intended as guidelines and remain open to other related proposals:

• Ecofeminisms and more-than-human care
• Care and migration
• Ethics of responsibility and care
• Community and trans care
• Vulnerability, interdependence, and care
• Care and gender-based violence
• Gender, literature, and cultural or film production by women
• Language and gender: the languages of care
• Management, labor, and the economics of care
• Technology, innovation, science, and care across time
• Memory and representations of care
• Care and assistance in history: models, institutions, and networks
• Narratives of care and inequality in the media
