RETHINKING DEVELOPMENT: STATE, SOCIETY AND CONSICIOUSNESS
The Jadavpur University Sociology Consortium (JUSC) invites original papers based upon the theme of "Rethinking Development: State, Society and Consciousness" for PERSPECTIVES, a hybrid-mode paper presentation to be held as part of its annual academic conclave, Lifeworld 2025–26. Themes for the paper presentation involve, but are not limited to:
- Reframing Development: Cityscapes, Space, and What Remain
- Development and Environment: Contradictions of Growth and the Climate Crisis
- Gendered forms of Development and the question of Sexuality: Rethinking the Norms of Development
- Development, Education, and the Question of Caste: Ideology, Access, and the Anatomy of Learning
- Development and Economy: The Dialectics of Market, State, and Society
- India’s Development Questions: An Alternative Perspective

Formatting guidelines: Follow APA style format, 7th edition.
The conclave is to be held on 12 and 13 March, 2026. Interested participants are requested to submit an abstract of 500 words outlining the key points of their paper by 15 February, 2026, 11:59p.m IST. The selected abstracts for the event would be announced by 25 February, 2026.
Kindly note: The paper to be presented should be between 4,000 and 6,000 words in length. Joint presentations (maximum 3) are allowed.
Registration Fees (In INR):
Offline Paper Presentation:
1. Under Graduate students - Rs. 350/- per participant.
2. Post Graduate students - Rs. 450/- per participant.
3. PhD & Independent scholars - Rs. 500/- per participant.
Onine Paper Presentation:
Rs. 300/- per participant for all Undergraduate, Post-Graduate, PhD Students and Research Scholars.
