We are inviting contributions to our panel "Global Asias and Francosphères: Intersections, Exchanges, Tensions," proposed as a special session for the MLA convention in Los Angeles, CA (January 7-10, 2027).  We welcome papers that draw on conceptions of the global, the translocal, and/or the relational offered by the Global Asias and Francosphères frameworks to examine francophone Asian forms (textual, visual, etc.) and exchanges. Proposals are encouraged to bring these analytical lenses into dialogue and explore points of overlap and friction between them, including but not limited to: Asian presences within francophone contexts and vice-versa; tensions between centers and peripheries, and between the general and the particular; the role of French Republican universalism and its global reach; the place of migration, diaspora, mobility, minoritization. Please send a 300-word abstract to ichen2@andrew.cmu.edu and alanyeh@berkeley.edu by March 2, 2026.
