Call for Proposals
MLA 2027 (Los Angeles)
Special Session

We are proposing a special session for the 2027 MLA Convention in Los Angeles on "Edited Collections: Tips and Tricks to Successful Publishing." This special session will be a roundtable featuring six presenters with the following format: 

• Each presenter will come from one of four personnel/position “buckets”
• Contributor to edited volume 
• Editor of an edited volume 
• Administrator who have reviewed promotions that depend, in part, on edited volumes 
• An editor from a press that publishes edited volumes 
• Each member of the round table will present three “tips/tricks” for edited volumes, speaking from the perspective of the bucket that they are in. Each tip should take no more than 2 minutes to share.
• Rather than everyone saying all of their tips at once, each presenter will share one tip, and then we will move down the table to the next presenter. We will loop over the table three times and then move on to Q&A/discussion among the presenters and with the audience

If you are interested in participating in this session, please send two tips (~150 words) and a brief vita to Brian Croxall (brian.croxall@byu.edu) and Diane K. Jakacki (dkj004@bucknell.edu) by Sunday, 15 March 2026. 

If you are selected for the session proposal, you will need to be a member of the MLA no later than 7 April 2026.
