Translation Studies in the Digital Age: Theory and Praxis

The Department of Humanities at KIIT Deemed to be University (India) will host a five-day online Faculty Development Programme titled Translation Studies in the Digital Age: Theory and Praxis (March 9–13, 2026). The programme explores translation as both an academic discipline and a professional practice undergoing significant transformation in the digital era. Bringing together scholars, translators, editors, and media practitioners, the FDP seeks to bridge theoretical debates in translation studies with contemporary practices shaped by multilingual circulation, digital archives, platform-based publishing, and audiovisual media.
Sessions will address translation theory and praxis; questions of equivalence, authorship, and ethics; digital archiving and editorial mediation; multilingual journalism; translation-led publishing; and the visibility of regional literatures in the digital age.
Resource persons include Prof. Jatindra Kumar Nayak (Indian Translator), Prof. Abhijit Gupta (Jadavpur University), Prof. Kamalakar Bhat (Ahmednagar College), Prof. Aarti Wani (Former Head, Department of English, of Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce), Prof. Siddhartha Biswas (University of Calcutta), Dr. Anurima Chanda (University of North Bengal), Ms. Menaka Rodriguez (India Foundation for the Arts), Ms. Smita Khator (People’s Archive of Rural India), Ms. Anuradha Sharma (Independent Journalist, Children's Author), and Ms. Bipasha Basu (Translator and Independent Consultant).
