FEMSPEC - Call for Production Editor and Book Review Editor

FEMSPEC, an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal dedicated to challenging gender through speculative means in any genre, seeks volunteers to fill the following roles:

 

PRODUCTION EDITOR

 

Duties include:

 

Collating and formatting content for each new issue of the journal.  Liaising with the journal's editor and other volunteer collective members to make changes to the issue's content and layout until the end of each issue's production period.

 

Attending collective meetings on a regular basis (now Thursday 12:30 PM EST) - meetings are held every week during production, then move to every other week afterward

 

Preferred Qualifications:
 

Advanced experience formatting documents in both Microsoft Word and PDF form.

A background in feminist and/or speculative theory/literature.

 

BOOK REVIEW EDITOR

 

Duties Include:

 

Soliciting book reviews from contributors to the journal, supervising the book review submission process, screening submitted book reviews for quality and relevance to the scope of the journal, coordinating with the Production Editor to ensure approved book reviews are published in each new issue of the journal.

 

Attending collective meetings on a regular basis (now Thursday 12:30 PM EST) - meetings are held every week during production, then move to every other week afterward

 

This position will be trained by our current Book Review Editor for a period of time before the applicant fully takes over editorial duties.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Experience in academia or an advanced degree in English, Women's and Gender Studies, or a related field.

A background in feminist and/or speculative theory/literature.
