dialog, a Peer-reviewed, Bi-annual International Journal of the Department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India is open to submissions for its next issue, No. 46, Autumn 2025 (ISSN: 0975 - 4881) (final stages of publication). dialog provides a forum for interdisciplinary research on diverse aspects of culture, society and literature. For its 46th issue, Department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University specifically invites:

 

  • Interviews
  • Book Reviews
  • Photo-Essays
  • Translations
  • Poems

 

Submission Guidelines:

  • Submissions must be sent to editordialog@pu.ac.in before the deadline, i.e., 05 April, 2026, along with a 50-word biographical note. The subject of the email must clearly state whether it is an interview, book review, photo essay, translation or poem along with the name of the author.
  • The submissions must be original and hitherto unpublished. 
  • The authors are required to give an undertaking that their submission is original.
  • The submissions should be double-spaced, in Times New Roman 12-point font, with 1inch margins on all sides
  • The author shall have to procure copyrights for image/photo used in the submission (if required).
  • The submission must be made in both Word (.doc or .docx) format and Pdf format.

 

Genre Specific guidelines:

 

Interviews:

An interview is a recorded conversation between a writer and a person of interest (must be related to the field of English Literature, Language and/or Cultural Studies). The conversation can be face to face, telephonic, online/virtual mode, email, etc.  

dialog will accept submissions in the form of transcripts (the exact written representation of a conversation) which must be edited, optimised, refined and made suitable for publication. The readers of the journal expect an engaging, comprehensive, cogent and concise version of the interview which must not exceed the word limit of 4000-4500 words.

 

Book Reviews:

A typical book review in dialog is approximately 1200 words. Book Reviews will be accepted only for the books published after the year 2023. It should provide complete information regarding the book being reviewed.

Photo-Essays:

A photographic essay is a form of visual storytelling, a way to present a narrative through a series of images. dialog will accept a Photo-Essay with the word limit of 1200 words.

A Photo-Essay must have high-resolution pictures along with text and sent as an attachment in the e-mail in the form of a compressed or zip file.

The author must ensure that copyright is acquired for all the photos used in the photo-essay.

 

Translations:

dialog will accept translations from any language into English but limited to only essays, poems, short stories and plays with detailed information about the original author, work, publisher, date of publication and place of publication.

 

Poems:

dialog provides an opportunity to budding writers to publish their poetry alongside established writers. The journal will accept only original poems written in English. All forms and genres of poetry are welcome but must not exceed the limit of two pages (A4 sheet).
