The Partition of India and the Sikhs: Eight decades after
To mark the eightieth anniversary of the Partition of India, we invite submissions for a Special Issue of Sikh Formations to be followed by an edited book volume. The issue will explore the past, present, and future legacies of the Partition in South Asia and beyond with special reference to the Sikhs.
Sikh Formations welcomes interdisciplinary approaches to the study of Partition, its repercussions for small religious minorities such as the Sikhs, and its continued relevance as an event and as a process without an end. We invite scholarship that explores how the rupture of 1947 also intersects with current geopolitical crises, climate displacement, border anxieties, regional wars in South and West Asia, and political fragmentation alongside hegemonic assertions of exclusionary, supremacist nationalisms.
For this special edition, we encourage submissions that integrate a variety of approaches. Contributions from creative artists, including poets, essayists, and visual artists are particularly welcome.
