The 123rd Annual Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association (PAMLA) Conference will take place this November in Seattle, Washington, from November 12-15. This allied session, co-sponsored by the Association for the Study of Literature & Environment (ASLE), investigates any aspect of ecocriticism, including (but not limited to):

ecocritical theory
-
environmental ethics
-
environmental humanities (e.g., blue humanities, energy humanities, plant humanities)

environmental justice
-
colonial and postcolonial ecologies
-
gender and ecology
-
literary representations of environmental realities or of non-human beings
-
interdisciplinary investigations of literature and environmental science
Papers are encouraged to connect ecocriticism to the conference theme of "Our Ruling Classes: Culture, Power, Conflict," but are not required to do so. We welcome diverse and varied presenters to propose abstracts, including proposals making use of a wide range of methodologies, focusing on a diversity of topics, ideas, and media, and from authors of varied identities and backgrounds, including graduate students, professors, non-tenure-track faculty, independent scholars, and artists.
