Call for Papers – Volume 37, Issue 1 & 2 (2027)

Dear Colleagues,

Litera: Journal of Language, Literature and Culture Studies – Dil, Edebiyat ve Kültür Araştırmaları Dergisi, the official publication of the Department of Western Languages and Literatures at Istanbul University, invites submissions for its 2027 issues (Volume 37, Issues 1 & 2).

An open-access, peer-reviewed, and multilingual journal published twice a year (June & December), Litera is indexed in ELSEVIER SCOPUS, Web of Science ESCI, MLA International Bibliography, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), ERIH PLUS, EBSCO Communication Source, EBSCO Central & Eastern European Academic Source, Gale Cengage and Ulrichsweb.

While our core focus remains on literary studies, linguistics, and cultural studies, we welcome interdisciplinary approaches that combine literary and linguistic analysis with insights from cultural theory and media studies—provided they maintain a clear relevance to our aim and scope.

We welcome original research articles that engage with current debates and critical issues in the study of Western (American, English, French, Belgian, German, Swiss, Austrian, Italian, Spanish, Latin American and Modern Greek) languages, literatures, and cultures. In particular, we encourage contributions that reflect cutting-edge scholarship in areas such as, but not limited to:

  • ·       Contemporary literary theory
  • ·       Disability Studies
  • Human-Animal Studies
  • Posthumanism and critical posthumanities
  • ·       Ecofeminism and ecocriticism
  • ·       Ecosemiotics and Ecolinguistics
  • Discourse Studies
  • Intersectional and decolonial approaches
  • ·       Digital humanities and media theory
  • ·       Film (Adaptation) Studies
  • ·       Medieval Studies
  • Posthuman Communication Studies
  • Gender studies
  • Narrative and identity in contemporary fiction
  • ·       Transnationalism and migration literature
  • Crete studies
