International, interdisciplinary conference titled:

The Hidden Faces of Violence II: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Abuse, Trauma, and Resistance

Following the tremendous success of our inaugural online, international, and interdisciplinary conference on the “Hidden Faces of Violence I” held in November 2025— which saw an unprecedented turnout and heartfelt support from participants around the globe— we are excited to announce that we are now preparing for the second one this November 2026, which will be in a hybrid format!

It is well known that violence manifests itself in a plethora of forms across various fields, like criminology, sociology, medicine, literature, art, and beyond. As such, we seek to explore the multifaceted nature of violence- whether spoken or unspoken, seen or unseen- by examining its causes, representations, and consequences through different disciplinary lenses. Our aim is to foster a rich dialogue and generate critical insights into the sociopolitical realities of violence as well as its artistic and cultural portrayals across different spheres of human activity.

We invite researchers, scholars, artists, students, PhD candidates and practitioners from various academic disciplines and creative fields, including but not limited to: criminology, forensic sciences, medical sciences, sociology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, law, literary studies, history, visual arts, film and media studies, cultural studies, and others. We also welcome interdisciplinary approaches.

We welcome and encourage different forms of presentations, such as case studies, theoretical analyses, posters, comparative studies, and practice-based research.

We also encourage participation from individuals who are interested in attending only as listeners.

All panels will be held virtually via Zoom. The onsite sessions will be also streamed on Zoom.

The onsite/in-person conference held on 6-7 November, 2026 will take place in a fully equipped, modern venue situated in the heart of Thessaloniki—Aristotelous Square, the city's most central and iconic location. More details will be announced soon.
