VENUE: Empire Theatres Toowoomba, Queensland, AUSTRALIA

Coinciding with World Shakespeare 2006 the Australian and New Zealand
Shakespeare Association Conference offers postgraduates and early career
scholars the opportunity to showcase their Shakespearean research. This
event is intended to be a postgraduate and early career colloquium prior
to World Shakespeare 2006, which will be held in Brisbane from Sunday 16
to Friday July 21.

Papers and workshops are invited from all areas of Shakespearean
studies.
Proposals are encouraged in the following:

* Performance as research
* History of Shakespeare in performance
* Shakespeare's contemporaries
* Staging and production techniques
* Shakespeare and pedagogy
* Intercultural and postcolonial Shakespeare
* History and textuality
* Shakespeare and memory
* The plays in social, cultural and political contexts

Presentations and workshops will be strictly limited to twenty minutes
(with an additional ten minutes for discussion). Abstracts must be
250-300 words and in English. Applications must also include the title,
author's name, affiliation, address, email contact, a 100-word biography
and any AV equipment requirements.
Some funding assistance is available to postgraduate students from
Australia, New Zealand and PNG.

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS: March 14, 2006

Details of ANZSA bursaries to assist with interstate/overseas travel for
Australian, New Zealand and PNG postgraduates presenting at the
conference will be announced shortly.
