THE REALM OF THE SENSES - PROPOSALS: 15th MAY / CONFERENCE: 18th and 19th JUNE 2009
The 2009 SWIG conference, "The Realm of the Senses:
Perceptual Analogy in Words and Images", will focus on the role of the senses in word and image, exploring how words and images can represent sensory perception, take the senses as a theme, or how a missing sense can be represented. The combination or words and images in this regard is a particularly fruitful relationship, creating analogies for perceptual experience that represent or imply texture, light, sound, even taste and smell through some other sensory channel. Proposals are welcomed from all disciplines and using any methodology, on the condition that they clearly address the interaction of words and images in the representation of the senses. Proposals should be c.300 words for papers lasting 20 minutes. The deadline for proposals is 15th May 2009.
