Mis/Appropriation - Oxford English Postgraduate Conference

This year's Oxford English Postgraduate Conference will take place on Friday 4th June. Proposals are invited on the theme of Mis/Appropriation in and of literary contexts. Please see the attached poster, or visit our website at http://users.ox.ac.uk/~jesu1838/.

The conference gives PhD students the opportunity to present their research to a wide audience. Proposals may include, but are not limited to, the following themes:

theft and intrusion
copyright debates and plagiarism
textual rewritings and fan literature
source analysis
notions of excess and greed
aspects of truth
nationalism, colonialism and conquest
appropriation of identity and the uses of disguise
translation
interpretation and the reader as author
manuscript variations and scribal error
literature and ideology

Papers should be no longer than 20 minutes. Please email abstracts of 250-300 words to diane.alff@sjc.ox.ac.uk by Friday 30th April.

We regret that the English Faculty is not in a position to help participants with travel grants or to provide other means of financial support. Registration will be free, but participation at our conference dinner (optional) is expected to cost £10.
