Panel Title: History in the Hands of American Women Writers
(panel hosted by the Southern California chapter of the Society for the Study of American Women Writers; CFP open to everyone).

This panel invites paper proposals that discuss historical fiction, poetry, and/or biographical writings by American female authors from the 17th to the end of the 19th centuries. Accepted papers will focus on the poetic, fictional, historiographical, and/or journalistic (non-fictional) representations of historical people and events. Papers that study the ways women's voices have fashioned history in the literary fabric of American culture and the relationship between genre and gender will be of primary interest.
Presiding Officer: Lina Geriguis, Claremont Graduate University

Please submit your proposal through the PAMLA (Pacific Ancient Modern Language Association) website at http://www.pamla.org/2011/. The deadline is March 25, 2011.
