CFP+Grant: "Self or No-Self: The Debate about Selflessness and the Sense of Self" Claremont CA Feb. 2015; appl. due 8/31/14
The Udo Keller Stiftung Forum Humanum (Hamburg) has generously provided grants of $2,200 each to enable doctoral students and recent post-docs (not before 2010) to participate in the international Claremont Philosophy of Religion conference held in Claremont, California every February. The theme of the 2015 conference (Feb. 19-21, 2015) is "Self or No-Self: The Debate about Selflessness and the Sense of Self."
The $2,200 grant is meant to cover all travel-related expenses. Recipients will have the opportunity to attend the conference on Friday and Saturday and to present a paper (15 double-spaced pages) on the topic of the conference in a pre-conference seminar that will be held on Thursday, February 19, on the same topic as the main conference. Five papers will be chosen for publication along with the conference contributions in the Claremont Studies of Philosophy of Religion series (Mohr Siebeck Tübingen).
We invite doctoral students and recent PhDs to submit two attachments to their emailed application: a one page CV, and a 5 page, double-spaced abstract (approximately 1500 words) of their proposed paper on the conference topic. Applicants should submit the abstract as a Word document with no marks that identify the author so that it will be suitable for distribution in a blind review. This should be emailed by August 31, 2014 midnight (before Sept. 1) Pacific time to
