Proposals are now being accepted until November 1, 2015 for the Film Studies Area at the 2015 SWPACA Conference.

We solicit papers on any topic germane to film studies including, but not limited to, film as art, film as culture, and film as industry. Paper presentations should be no more than 20 minutes and they should present an arguable thesis or develop a compelling question.

For individual presentations, submit a proposal with the following items:
• maximum 250-word abstract, including paper/presentation title;
• current curriculum vitae;
• working bibliography for your paper; and
• contact information (name and email).
All presenters must enter their own information and proposals into the conference database individually, even if on a submitted panel.

Proposals for panels of 3-4 presenters are also welcome. To propose a panel, submit:
• panel title;
• name and email address for the panel chair;
• titles and abstracts of each paper; and
• name and email address for each presenter.

Submit all proposals to http://conference2016.southwestpca.org/

This year's conference will feature two workshop sessions open to all conference attendees. The first workshop will consider the significance of the top grossing films of 2015. The second will consider the significance of the Oscar nominated films. Both sessions look to help scholars consider culture through film.

Please see http://southwestpca.org/conference/graduate-student-awards/ for a list of monetary awards (and their requirements) for the best graduate papers. Of particular interest to presenters in this area is the Post Script Graduate Student Award in Film Studies.

Also, please visit http://journaldialogue.org for information about the organization's new, peer-reviewed journal, _Dialogue: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Popular Culture and Pedagogy_.
