Thank you for your interest in SCCC's annual Creative Writing Festival: A Celebration of Teaching and Writing. Our festival features four days of events held Monday, April 11- Thursday, April 14 at each of our three campuses (in Brentwood, Selden, and Riverhead, NY) preceding an all-day conference in Selden, NY on Friday, April 15, 2016.

The festival brings together students, poets, novelists, short story writers, dramatists, essayists, and creative writing professors for an engaging day of workshops, panel discussions, readings, and related events.

Currently, we are accepting proposals for workshops and panel discussions to be held throughout the week and at the all-day conference. We are looking for:

1) Writing Workshops: Inspire and motivate festival attendees to write in fresh, interesting, and engaging seventy-five minute sessions. All genres will be considered, but workshops should be aimed at a primarily undergraduate audience. If you have a "stand alone" workshop that works particularly well and will get your audience writing, we are interested in hearing about it.

2) Presentation/Panel Discussion Sessions: Present on any topic of interest to creative writing students and instructors at the undergraduate level. Panel proposals must include a list of panelists/presenters with the appropriate contact information for each, and working paper titles.

You are encouraged to consider these guidelines as broadly and creatively as possible.

All panel and workshop proposals should fit within a 75 minute time frame: 60-65 minutes for the session and 10-15 minutes for Q and A.

More information may be found by contacting Professor Sarah Gutowski (gutowss@sunysuffolk.edu); proposal forms may be found on our website:
