ANACHRONIST

2003

invites research papers, interviews, and reviews on literatures in =
English for its next issue, to be published in December 2003. Papers are =
to be sent to The AnaChronisT (Department of English Studies, E=F6tv=F6s =
Lor=E1nd University, Hungary 1146 Budapest, Ajt=F3si D=FCrer sor 21) by =
Monday, 14 April 2003.

The AnaChronisT welcomes submissions by graduate students as well as =
academics. The formal criteria of application are as follows:

X one hard copy of the essay sent to the above address (your paper =
should not exceed 12,000 words, including footnotes);

X an abstract of 2-300 words;

X a note on the author's professional status and achievements (between 5 =
and 10 lines, possibly with publications, etc.);

X the text in Word or RTF document format sent to the following e-mail =
address: anachronist_at_freemail.hu;

X for the formal requirements of the paper please read on.

Papers

will be read and evaluated by the editors and an independent referee.

The AnaChronisT is indexed by the MLA and ABELL.

Please observe the following formal requirements. In case you fail to =
comply with them, your paper might be refused.

All references and necessary bibliographical information should be given =
in the footnotes - with the possible exception of often-cited texts your =
paper focuses on, in which case you can give short page references in =
round brackets after the quotes, within the body of the text. On the =
first such occasion give the full bibliographical details in a footnote, =
starting with this sentence: "All parenthesised references are to this =
edition: [edition details]." There must be no separate list of =
references or bibliography.

Footnote numbers in the text are to be placed after the punctuation =
marks. Please use the word processor's automatic footnote function.

John Smith, ed., Title of collection (Place: Publisher, 1934).

Further references to works already cited (please avoid using "Ibid." or
"op. cit."):

Or, if and only if you use several works by John Smith:

X Always use double quotation marks, single only in the case of a
quotation embedded in the quote: "Books, as Frye asserts, are
'rubbish.'"

X Commas/full stops are always before the closing inverted
comma/quotation mark.

X Common abbreviations are to be spelt as follows: cf., i.e., e.g., et
al., etc.
