CFP Detail: This panel invites participants to explore the rich and
varied ways in which we encounter visual rhetoric in ordinary and
extraordinary ways. As rhetorical study expands to include genres outside
of writing and elocution, this session seeks participants interested in
exploring the pervasive and significant impact of visual rhetoric across
the disciplines in the past, present and future, asking among other
things: How is visual rhetoric produced? How is it consumed? What occurs
rhetorically as we shift between the modes of production and consumption?

Topics discussed might include, but are not limited to, the intellectual
and/or physical locations of the production of visual rhetoric - from
drama, the arts, and architecture, to film, advertising, and graphic
design.

What effect does the use of visual rhetoric have on the media we consume?
>From blogs to the Internet, from the comics and animation to theater
productions, how are we as consumers shaped by and influenced by the
production of visual rhetoric? Although media producers may consciously
incorporate visual rhetoric in their work, what are the subtle and
layered ways in which, as consumers, we are influenced by and respond to
visual rhetoric?
