English Department of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University together with James Joyce Association of Georgia will host a two-day conference to celebrate the 130th anniversary of James Joyce's birth and 90th anniversary from the first publication of Ulysses.

The conference dedicated to the study of James Joyce's international impact on literature will be held at Tbilisi State University, Georgia on 2-3 February, 2012.

We propose discussion of the following broad themes in contemporary and historical perspective, but we also welcome proposals for the conference with a different focus which nevertheless – importantly – transgress disciplinary boundaries:

Joyce and modernism
Joyce's legacy in literature
Joyce in other countries (translations, research)
Joyce in Georgia
Joyce and tradition
