We would like to announce a call for papers for the Eighteenth-Century English Literature session(s) that will be held at the 2013 RMMLA Convention in Vancouver, WA from October 10-12.
We invite you to submit a proposal for a 15 to 20-minute paper that analyzes any aspect of eighteenth-century literature (i.e. any author, literary work, genre, subgenre, philosophy, or historical event that impacted literature of this century). Last year's sessions included papers on such diverse topics as moral epistemology in Mary Hamilton's writings, a new reading of female agency in Defoe's Roxana, the role of empiricism in Mary Astell's feminism, and the contribution of the pit audience to the formation of the public sphere. We hope this year's sessions will continue to represent and explore the remarkable diversity of eighteenth-century British literature and scholarship about it.
Please submit a titled, 250-word by abstract that includes your name, university affiliation, contact information, and audio-visual request (if needed) by March 1, 2012, to Tina Van Kley at tvankley@brandeis.edu.
The chair will read submissions and respond to applicants by March 15, 2012.
