America's Obsession with Superheroes

"Hera, give me strength!" Wonder Woman can do a lot of things, but writing your proposal for this panel isn't one of them.

This special session seeks to explore the impact of burgeoning superhero culture in literature, comics, film, and media. The multidisciplinary panel will examine the varied ways in which superhuman fantasy fiction depicts the changing ideals of American exceptionalism, gender, justice, overcoming adversity, race, revenge, sexuality, and truth. A specific approach to the topic of superheroes is not expected, so please submit what you're working on to be considered for this panel. This is an approved special session for the 2015 annual conference of the Pacific and Ancient Modern Language Association (PAMLA) in the wonderful city of Portland, Oregon.

Submit your proposal by midnight on May 15th. New users to the PAMLA website will need to create a username/log-in to view the submission portal. All interested applicants must submit proposals to PAMLA at:
