CALL FOR PAPERS
Abstracts due April 6, 2007

Animation, described by Paul Wells (2002) as 'the omnipresent pictorial
form of the modern era', is emerging as a significant area of academic
study. Animated Dialogues 2007 aims to bring together scholars from
a range of disciplines whose work brings critical perspectives to bear on
animation industries, texts and audiences.

Animated Dialogues 2007 is co-hosted by Monash University, Murdoch
University, Deakin University and the Victorian College of the Arts, and
is also affiliated with the Society for Animation Studies
(http://www.animationstudies.org). The conference is planned to coincide
with the 2007 Melbourne International Animation Festival, June 19-24,
2007 (http://www.miaf.net/).

The conference will comprise 2 full days of presentations
at Monash University, Berwick campus, followed by one day devoted to
Australian animation at the Victorian College for the Arts, Melbourne.

Confirmed Key Note speaker is Professor Paul Wells, Director of
Animation, School of Art and Design, Loughborough University, UK; Vice
President, Society for Animation Studies. Our other confirmed speaker is
renowned Australian animator and artist Antoinette Starkiewicz.

Abstracts (250 words) and full length papers (3000-4000 words) are now
invited.
Full length papers will be double-blind peer reviewed and the best of these
published in Animation Studies, the online journal of the Society for
Animation
Studies.

Abstracts (250 words) are due April 6, 2007
Full length papers for consideration for the Society for Animation
Studies' journal Animation Studies (3,000-4,000 words) should be
submitted on day one of the conference (June 17, 2007).

Submission Guidelines:
Please forward abstracts together with a title page including author's
name, affiliation, contact details and author's bio (100 words) to:

Papers submitted for consideration for publication in Animation Studies
should be double spaced and use Harvard referencing style. Your
submission should include a title page including author's name,
