CALL FOR PAPERS
Woody Allen after 1990

Woody Allen is one of America's most notable filmmakers. Much of the
scholarly work on him, though, concentrates on his films up to 1990. This
special issue of Post Script: Essays in Film and the Humanities will focus
on Allen and his filmmaking after 1990. Contributors are encouraged to
submit papers dealing with any cinematic aspect from this period in Allen's
career. Possible topics could include, but are certainly not limited to:

. The continuing evolution of Woody Allen's style as a filmmaker
. The director as actor
. Allen's cinematic influences
. Literary and other influences on Allen as filmmaker
. Genre experimentation in Allen's later films
. Allen's ongoing thematic concerns with death, magic, and the
relationship between "reality" and art
. How critical reception to early films has informed his more recent
work
. Allen's reception outside of the United States
. Woody Allen and the media
. Postmodernism and Allen's cinematic style
. Woody Allen, art, and commerce: the economics of Allen's filmmaking
. Woody Allen and his biographers
. Allen's films as autobiographical
. Substantive Interviews
. Book Reviews

All article submission should be 5,000-7,000 words in length. Book reviews
should be 500-1,000 words. Contributors should format submissions based on
the MLA Style Manual, 2nd edition. Manuscripts may be emailed as an attached
MS Word file. If mailed, please send three copies, author identification on
a cover sheet only, and a SASE if requesting return of copies.

Deadline for submission is October 15, 2005.
