Scope
The Northeast Popular Culture Association (NEPCA) The Body, Fashion, and Popular Culture Area invites submissions for NEPCA’s annual conferenceto to be held online and in person at Nichols College, MA, October 3 – 5, 2024. Virtual sessions will take place on Thursday evening and Friday morning via Zoom. In-person sessions will take place on Friday evening and Saturday morning and will be broadcast to conference registrants via Zoom. Time zones are US Eastern Standard Time.

Researchers have long confirmed the importance of studying food-related issues in the past and in the present-day world. During our interdisciplinary conference, we are going to concentrate on the relationships between food and memory. In what sense – and in what circumstances – can food be regarded as an identity-building factor? What role does it play in shaping our individual and collective memories? How can food studies deepen our knowledge on the social and cultural aspects of our lives? Why are food memories so often related to important experiences of individuals and societies?
The 7th edition of the "Migration, Adaptation and Memory" International Interdisciplinary Conference will take place on June 13, 2024, online (via Zoom platform) and on June 14, 2024 in-person at Holiday Inn City Centre Hotel in Gdańsk (Poland)

REMINDER: ABSTRACTS DUE 30 JUNE 2024
This anthology explores trans parenting and raising trans/non binary children from a broad, interdisciplinary perspective. We welcome submissions that explore various dimensions of trans parenting in literary, cultural, artistic, political, historical, social, and economic contexts.
Contributions which address race/ethnicity, age, dis/ability, gender, and sexual orientation, in relation to trans parenting are particularly encouraged. A wide range of non-normative family units and trans parenting examinations is welcomed. We welcome both academic and practically oriented contributions, as well as poetry and other creative contributions, including autobiographical pieces.

Cyberfeminism is a fusion of the term 'cyber', denoting the act of steering, governing, and controlling, and 'feminism', which represents an activist movement dedicated to women's liberation and justice at various levels - local, national, and international. Cyber-feminism aims to bridge the gap between the historical and philosophical traditions of feminism and contemporary feminist initiatives both online and offline. These initiatives focus on the lived experiences and realities of women from diverse backgrounds, including different ages, races, and socioeconomic statuses.
The English Department at the University of the Incarnate Word welcomes presentation proposals for its inaugural international interdisciplinary symposium on “Social Justice and the Teaching of World Literature.” The study and teaching of global texts actively allows for an inclusive representation of diverse voices and perspectives. This symposium seeks to explore more deeply the intersection between teaching world literature and social justice issues as they emerge in the 21st century.

We invite submissions for the fourth issue of Theatre Academy: A Journal of World Theatre which will be published electronically in September. Theatre Academy is indexed in MLA International Bibliography.

* Original works, not published elsewhere or related to theatre in any context will be considered for publication.
* Please note that all manuscripts will be closely examined through Turnitin once they are received by the journal.
This allied session on work in multi-ethnic literature of the United States (co-sponsored by MELUS) invites papers that explore work as a component of identity formation, especially as it intersects with gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, cultural identity, and citizenship. In the spirit of Moishe Postone’s antiproductivist Marxism, this panel is particularly interested in papers that present a “critique of labor in capitalism” rather than a “critique of capitalism from the standpoint of labor.” While papers that engage with work broadly from the traditional Marxist position are welcome, we are particularly excited about scholarship that theorizes work itself.

The editors of the Oxford University Handbook of American Street Literature seek papers that explore the history and themes of this unique genre. Street literature, also known as urban literature, refers to a genre of writing that primarily focuses on the experiences and narratives of individuals from marginalized communities, particularly in urban areas. Street Lit often explores the struggles, triumphs, and complexities of life in poor neighborhoods, shedding light on themes such as crime, violence, poverty, and the pursuit of success. Street literature encompasses various forms of written expression, including novels, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction accounts.

Close Reading in the Digital Age
Dear colleagues,
The PAMLA 2024 Conference will be held at the Margaritaville Resort in Palm Springs, California (formerly the Riviera Resort, a favorite hangout of Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and other Hollywood and musical stars) between Thursday, November 7 and Sunday, November 10, 2024 (yes, you are correct: we have moved the conference back one week from its initially-scheduled weekend).
The 2024 PAMLA Conference is being held entirely in-person. We won’t be having any virtual or hybrid sessions or papers.
This year's theme is “Translation in Action.” While most scholarship about translation deals with the interlingual, we welcome scholarship on the other areas discussed by Roman Jakobson such as intralingual and intersemiotic translation. We plan on celebrating the work of a wide range of scholars and translators such as Michael Cronin, Moira Inghilleri, and many others. We seek proposals dealing with translation as a diverse set of practices, a dynamic field of study, and a set of complex networks that affect our lives. Once again, we are open to a variety of interests, but for this year, we are especially interested in proposals on the theme of “Translation in Action.”
