A Few Lines Magazine is an internationally read literary magazine (both online and in print) which actively seeks to publish the best that the literary world has to offer. We are always looking for poetry, flash fiction, short stories, creative non-fiction, and artwork. We generally take about 1-2 months to respond; however, we try to respond to all submissions as quickly as possible. We just completed our second issue and are currently working on our third. Call for Presentations

The Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and World Languages at Carson-Newman College and the IDP Linguistics Degree Program of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will host the second annual Interdisciplinary Symposium on Language on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The Symposium is intended to provide an opportunity for dialogue between scholars in various disciplines who share an interest in language.

We invite proposals for papers for an academic conference which will be held in Sopot, Poland, as part of the international literary / theatre festival BETWEEN. This year celebration of the work of John Berger, on the one hand, and Complicite, on the other, will be accompanied with a more general examination of the ever-changing relations between stage and page. We aim to provide an opportunity for a theoretical discussion about the various roles performed by playwrights, directors, producers, actors and stage designers. We want to investigate the ways in which they inspire, reject, transform, disrespect, follow the work of one another. Or, as is the case with John Berger and Complicite, the ways in which writers and theatre collaborate.

In times like these, it's hard not to write satire. And so that's why I am advertising two linked panels on satire that will be featured at the upcoming John Jay College Biennial Conference on Literature and the Law next spring.

The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society, an organization of over 250 members worldwide, invites paper proposals on topics related to Rawlings's life and works. Topics might include the following:
