Writing While Arab: Politics, Hyphens, and Homelands

RAWI – the Radius of Arab American Writers, Inc. – is organizing its
second national conference in Dearborn, Michigan on May 17-20, 2007 at
the Arab American National Museum. The conference welcomes RAWI members
and others who are interested in engaging in the Arab American literary
community. The conference will provide a venue to present our writings
and ideas to one another and to the Detroit and Arab communities. Our
gathering will offer an opportunity for colleagues to share strategies
for publishing and circulating our work and also for confronting
academic, community, and political barriers.

The Southwest/Texas Popular Culture and American Culture Associations will hold their 28th annual meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, February 14 through 17, 2007. The organizations have met there for several years, and members wanted to return because of the great location, the fine hotels, food, sights, museums, and more. Albuquerque is the home of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, which promises research and entertainment possibilities.

I welcome abstracts for essays to be included in a proposed volume on
any area of study pertaining directly or indirectly to the Frankfurt
School, for the publication of which I am in talks with Cambridge
Scholars Press.

Abstracts should be approximately two pages long, while full articles
will probably run 15-25 pages in the volume itself.
