Sorry folks, but a new deadline has been set by M/MLA for the abstracts.

We're welcoming papers on a panel addressing Figurative Language in 19th
Century American Literature for the M/MLA Convention to be held at the
Renaissance Cleveland Hotel in Cleveland, OH--November 8-11, 2007.

Proposals for this panel can address the unique usage of figurative language
within 19th Century American Literature. Others could address questions
such as these: how does the figurative, in 19th Century American
Literature, create a sense of irony that is de Manian; how does the use of
rhetorical language become persuasive in explaining what the figurative
does? Papers could also include, but are not limited to, any aspect of
figurative language and its presentation that is uniquely 19th Century
American.
