CFP: [Collections] Joyce, Rushdie, Pound and our Political Moment: January 10

The Humanities Review, a publication of St. John's University, is looking for submissions for its
Spring 2008 edition. We are currently accepting essays and book reviews covering issues
including:

- Post 9/11 Culture

- The Politics of Language

- Postcolonialism and Postmodernism

- The American Creative Process in a Time of War

- Applying Literature and Theory of "Truth" and "Timelessness" to our current socio-political
environment

- Locating Ezra Pound's datum "Make it New" in our present moment

- Politics in Poetry vs. Politics in the Novel

- Pedagogical Issues of Literary/Composition Studies

- Joyce/Rushdie

Submissions should not exceed 5,000 words and should be in MLA format (in-text citations,
footnotes, and a Works Cited page are encouraged). Please submit Microsoft Word documents
saved as the name of the submitter. Include a 100-150 word bio and a 150-250 word abstract.

Submission due January 10, 2008.

Recent contributors to The Humanities Review include Nancy Armstrong, Gayatri Spivak, Peter
McLaren, and Thomas Sayers Ellis. Past contributors have included Albert Murray, E. San Juan Jr.,
John Hollander, Howard Zinn, Henry Giroux, and E. San Juan Jr.
