A Few Lines Magazine is an internationally read literary magazine (both online and in print) which actively seeks to publish the best that the literary world has to offer. We are always looking for poetry, flash fiction, short stories, creative non-fiction, and artwork. We generally take about 1-2 months to respond; however, we try to respond to all submissions as quickly as possible. We just completed our second issue and are currently working on our third. The concept of the undead focuses our attention upon the paradoxical, aporetic, seemingly-permeable boundaries between life and death, and between past and present. Within the scope of this seminar, we are interested in how embodied or estranged voices, narrative, and stories, pass through those boundaries.

The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Journal of Florida Literature publishes articles, creative fiction and poetry, book reviews, notes in the spirit of or regarding the life and work of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, her circle, and other authors who use the state of Florida as a source of creativity.

Since 1988, The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Journal of Florida Literature has published material relevant to the life, works, and friends of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Yearling and many other widely respected and beloved works, including Cross Creek, Cross Creek Cookery, South Moon Under, and Golden Apples.

The Kurt Vonnegut Society (www.vonnegutsociety.net) invites proposals for papers to be presented at the 2012 American Literature Association in San Francisco, May 24-27. Presenters need not be members of the Kurt Vonnegut Society (but we certainly hope they will join). Please send a 150-word abstract for a 15-minute presentation, along with a brief CV, to Robert Tally at robert.tally@txstate.edu by January 10, 2012.

2011 may well be called "The Year of Kurt Vonnegut." In April the Library of America issued a volume including his novels from 1963 to 1973, effectively canonizing Vonnegut. A school board of Republic, Missouri banned Slaughterhouse-Five from both its high school's required reading and library, prompting the recently opened Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library to offer affected students free copies of the acclaimed novel.
