We are currently accepting Short Stories, Flash Fiction, Poetry, Visual Artwork, and Creative Non-Fiction/Essays.

The writer Daniel Pink prophesizes widely on what he describes as a cultural transition from our era—an "Age of Information," to an alleged "Age of Conception," a transition which has induced educators in British and in many Southeast Asian countries to attempt to inculcate creativity in their students in order to better prepare them for competition in the global marketplace. One symptom of this new age, the development of a global cyber network, or what Thomas Friedman calls the "Digital Platform," has given to each and every entrepreneur the potential to expand his or her trade and sale of services and products to consumers worldwide, making those marketplaces more competitive on a global scale.

The 10th Interdisciplinary and International Graduate Conference will focus on the analysis of '(Re-)Presentations of Working Life'. Drawing on the academic debate well established in the fields of sociology, political sciences or theology it seeks to promote this debate within the humanities, particularly within the field of cultural studies. The conference is taking place at Erlangen University from 12-13 November 2011 and is aimed at graduates and postgraduates from the fields of linguistics, literary and cultural studies, political sciences, sociology, history, philosophy, pedagogy, theology, art history, or theater and media studies whose work is related to the conference theme.

How does understanding violence and masculinity as interrelated illuminate intersections between religious, national, sexual, ranked, or racial identities? Excellent scholarship in gender studies over the past several decades has emphasized the extent to which masculinity has been an under-examined norm and stressed the many forms masculinity takes in the early modern period. This collection builds on those efforts by interrogating how masculinity and violence are specifically linked and by considering the ways multiple identity categories simultaneously influence constructions of masculinity.

Essayist and fiction writer, playwright and poet, CAROL SHIELDS had an extraordinary literary career, winning, among other prizes, the American Book Critics' Circle Award, the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction, the Governor General's award for Fiction, and the Pulitzer Prize. The University of Ottawa granted her an MA (1975) and conferred on her the first of her honorary degrees (1995).

Proposals are invited for this major conference. All topics are welcome, biographical, literary, and especially new methodologies of reading her many writings.

The T. S. Eliot Society will host a session at the upcoming SAMLA conference, to be held at Loews Hotel in Atlanta, November 4-6 2011. The Society welcomes proposals for papers dealing with any aspect of Eliot's work or its reception. Contributions are requested for the 15th volume (2011) of Revista de Estudios Norteamericanos. Revista de Estudios Norteamericanos is an international journal which publishes papers and contributions on diverse aspects of American Studies, mainly literary, cultural, historical, artistic or critical. The journal is published by the University of Seville and the Spanish Association for American Studies and welcomes papers from scholars whose research meets the scientific requirements established by its Director and by the Board of Editors and Advisors. The journal has been instrumental in fostering publications in American Studies since 1992. Evaluation of the contributions is done anonymously by two different advisors.
