The Act of Shifting Borders in the Identity Politics
Gloría Anzaldúa uses the term mestizaje to describe the embodiment of simultaneous identities and the inherent contradictions for women writers and theorists in belonging to multiple cultures at the same time. How do these borders create a cultural identity that transcends the notion of multiple, split cultures? How do cultural borders affect race, class, gender, nationality and ethnicity?
Please send abstracts of approximately 250 words to Kimberly Eaton at <kimberlyanneaton_at_yahoo.com> via MS word email attachments.
