To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Khoi Nguyen, a graduate student at Southern Connecticut State
University in the Women's Studies program. I am currently developing a new
journal, *Gender on Our Minds*, an interdisciplinary publication dedicated
to awareness gender and queer studies. *Gender on Our Minds* provides a
space for marginalized groups to discuss topics and issues such as GLBTIQ
identities, academic and queer pedagogy, arts, cultures, histories,
politics, and theories.

Submissions are invited for a panel on American Literary Lecture Tours at The Modern Language Association
Conference in Chicago, 27 – 30 December 2007.

Papers may discuss one or more tours of any writer in the United States. How did this writer's tour(s) affect his or her
literary reputation? Did this writer's talks suggest new ways to interpret his or her life and work to audiences? How did
lecture tours contribute to the American conception of a literary celebrity in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries?

Ecocriticism and Science: Sociobiology, Evolutionary Biology, and the =
Question of Culture

We are seeking contributors for a work provisionally entitled, The Civil
War and Reconstruction Era: 1850s-1877 in the Conflicts in American
History series. The work is under contract with Bruccoli Clark
Layman/Manly, Inc. Contributors will receive $250 for essay chapters
that will consist of the following elements: 1. 2000-3000 word
background essay introducing the conflict, the people involved, the
nature of the conflict and its resolution. 2. A specific chronology of
the conflict 3. 10-20 historical documents both in facsimile and in
reprinted text form, each with an objective head note (150-300 words)
that correlates to the conflict 4. A list of recommended readings. 5. 2

issue on "Shakespeare and the American South." We are also interested in
receiving manuscripts that consider the reception, representation, or
adaptation of Shakespeare in any part of the United States from the
seventeenth century to the present.

Submissions that address any aspect of Shakespeare's work, and performance
reviews of Shakespeare theater productions and festivals, will also be
considered.
