Abstracts may be submitted on any topic dealing with Spenser. As always,

Obsidian III is pleased to announce a special issue to celebrate the
work of poet and playwright Jay Wright.

The publication of Wright's Transfigurations: Collected Poems in 2000
makes possible a celebration and an assessment of Wright's ongoing
achievement as a poet. The special issue will also explore Wright's
work as a playwright. Therefore, we invite scholarly, previously
unpublished essays on any aspects of Wright's work. We are open to

We are currently editing a special issue of _Victorian Poetry_, scheduled for publication in 2006, on Tractarian poetry and poetics and its influence on Victorian literature and religion. Due to the unavoidable withdrawal of one of our contributors, we are interested in hearing from anyone who has material on this topic which could be quickly turned into a high-quality article. The article (c.6000 words) would have to be completed by the end of July at the latest, and preferably earlier.

This conference will celebrate the centennial of Dunbar's death by exploring
new critical perspectives on the full range of his career as a poet,

Papers are invited for a panel at the 2006 Society for the Study of
American Women Writers Meeting. These essays should explore the plays,
criticism, or poetry of either or both authors, focusing on anti-war
sentiment, women's rights, social activism, lesbianism, imagism,

Mark Strand is one of America's best poets, yet little critical work
has been published on Strand's poetry. This panel invites papers that
address any aspect of Strand's poetry from a critical perspective. The

forthcoming Companion to Twentieth Century British Poetry, a reference
book for high school and college students. The book involves about 400
entries, varying in length from 300-2000 words per entry, to be done
over the next year and a half. All entries will carry the author's

NEW NIGERIAN POETRY JOURNAL

Poetry of the Last Two Decades

Following weeks of intensive deliberations and the decision of the IRCALC board to expand the scope and readership of the journal on new Nigerian poetry, the editorial board has approved three broad themes in the upcoming edition of the New Nigerian Poetry journal project.

The project will enjoy the initial sponsorship of Progeny International even as more participants are welcome to join the efforts to sustain the emerging virile national literatures of Africa.
